DIY Step By Step Guide to Wall Mount LCD TV
One of the things homeowners should do is to make sure that the plasma or LCD TV is geared for wall mounts, as there were flat panel designs for table top only. To know whether your TV set is geared for wall mounts, check the back portion of your flat screen; do you see 4 threaded screws that a mount can be attached to? If you do, then you can start preparing to install your HDTV set. Also, basic knowledge on home electrical systems is a must; if in doubt regarding the basic precursory knowledge of H.E.S consult a friend or an electrician. Recommendable location for the right place to wall mount your flat screen is your interior walls, especially for those who will be doing this the first time.
Take time to check the hardware stores for the wall mount that is most appropriate for your flat panel TV. Make sure to research whether or not the mount you choose will be able to support your Plasma’s weight, as you don’t want your precious new equipment crashing into the floor. There are 2 types of wall mount you can choose to use, flat and tilt wall mount. Tilt wall mounts has this cool feature that allows homeowners to tilt the flat panel down to some extent. While Flat wall mounts are used for those who are on a budget, and looking for that sleek facade flat panel TVs are branded with.
You need adequate knowledge in basic carpentry skill, enough to use tape measure, socket set, power drill, screwdriver etc. It is important to acquire a stud finder to pinpoint precise locations to place your mount on the wall. After being able to find the wall studs make sure that you are piercing into one or two wall stud with four anchors.
It is up to homeowners to decide on how high the plasma TV should be place on the wall. As much as possible do not place your plasma TV high on the wall for comfortable and easy viewing. After all is set, it is time to install the mount. Start by hooking mounting rails to the back portion of your TV, get a pencil and mark the wall where the anchor bolts will set off through the mounts. Use a drill with drill bits to prestart a point hole for the anchor bolts.
Before hanging that plasma TV, ask for a friend or family members’ help to lift the display as it will be too heavy for you to lift it up. After the flat panel TV is mounted and cables organized double check the safety tabs and make sure the tabs are in place. During the whole project, it would be best if you’ll keep your manual instruction beside you and read it occasionally.
