Is there a satellite service HD DVR box that will work for Over The Air without subscribing to satellite?
I want to be able to record HD material onto a Hard Drive with a stand alone Set Top Box, but all the models made only for Over The Air & Cable TV are discontinued and way too expensive on EBAY. I only have Over The Air with my rooftop antenna and do not have Cable or Satellite.
Is it possible to use a DirecTV or DishNetwork set top box and view/record Over The Air material without actually having a satellite service or satellite dish?
No, both DishNetwork and DirecTV’s tuners will ONLY work with their respective satellite services.
You can get non-HD DVR that will use your antenna, but I don’t think there’s a HD solution out there at this time, since most people who want HD get it from cable or satellite.
