Why do Republicans use the FOX TV show “24″ as an example in Congressional hearings?
The Senator from Texas asked Attorney General-nominee Eric Holder a “24″ type of question today.

I know. I remember exactly what question about torture you’re talking about, too, because I was listening to it on NPR. It was f’n retarded and didn’t even make logical sense. Holder was like, “Well, I think torture just does not work, research has shown people will say anything you want them to say, and there are lots of other ways to get information out of people.” And the senator was like, “So what? Suppose torture WAS the ONLY WAY to save tens of thousands of Americans. THEN would you do it?” I was like … is this guy a moron? We’ve just established that it’s NOT the only way and his question is circular in asking Holder to assume that it is the only way.
Well, yes, if, in some parallel universe, torture was in fact the only good way to “save” tens of thousands of Americans, I’m sure Holder and all the rest of us would indeed think it was OK. Except that IT’S NOT.

Planet of the Apes [Blu-ray] $10.93 Many early science fiction films are now, quite inadvertently (and in most cases undeservedly), objects of camp attention: we laugh at the silly makeup, tin-can special effects, and the naive “high-tech” dialogue. Planet of the Apes is no such film. Its intelligent script, frightening costuming, and savagely effective conclusion (which needs no big-budget special effects to augment its impact) rem… |
